You have been applying for jobs on various freelancing websites. sending work proposals to your clients but still not able to find freelance work.
Don't worry you are not the only one with this problem. So,
don’t feel bad about this.
Many freelancers go through this phase, so as I.
Starting anything is easy but continuing it till the end is not easy.
I have seen many freelancers lose their confidence
in this phase and quit freelancing and start searching for a normal job.
But few other freelancers look at this problem as
an opportunity.
And they fix this problem as soon as possible. And
after some hard work, they get rid of this problem.
When I started freelancing, I was also facing the
same problem of not getting any work. But, after a few weeks, I also got rid of
this problem.
In this article, I will tell you the most common
reasons why you are not able to find freelance work or why your client is not
interested in working with you.
Here are the reasons why you are not getting any clients. If you are making any mistake from this list. If you are making any of them then it's time to correct them.
Top reasons
1. You don't have samples to showcase your work
At the point when a potential client is concluding on whom to hire as a freelancer, they will try to understand what kind of end result they will get after hiring the freelancer.
They will be willing to check the work
of the freelancer before hiring them and to work with them.
Thus, if you need to make sure about new clients
are not slipping away from your hand and you don’t want to lose him, then you
need to show the work that shows off your capacities.
A good portfolio of your work allows expected
clients to view and rate how good your work is. It will help them to set their
desires and choose if you are the one for their work.
But, at that point, if you can't give evidence of
your good work, then the client is more likely to reject working with you and
hire someone who is better at that work.
To whom he can trust to work with him and invest his
own money on the freelancer.
Create a portfolio or an arrangement of your work and make
it simple for freelance clients to access and review your work. It must look
attractive. So it can get you more freelance clients for you.
Organize and arrange your work examples so you can
pull a particular sample of your work on your customer demands.
In the event that you are new in the world of
freelancing and don't have work samples to place in your portfolio, go out and
create a few.
Or what you can do is a few samples so you can fill
your portfolio or discover a non-benefit and give your work to them for free.
2. You don't have client testimonials
The reason your freelance client decides not to work with you has a great deal to do with trust, proof, and confirmation.

Potential freelance clients want to understand what
it will resemble to work with you, and the most ideal path for them to find
this out is by reading past client testimonials(reviews).
Hearing the experience of working with you from a
previous or current freelance client permits a possible client to get a thought
regarding the satisfactory rate of your work.
If you are new to freelancing and you don't have
reviews or suggestions from your clients, then you have nobody to vouch for
you, and potential customers will notice it.
They'll ask why nobody has prescribed you and
presumably choose to work with somebody who has a rundown of sparkling reviews
and recommendations from past clients.
Like your portfolio, on the off chance that you
don't have reviews or recommendations, go out and get a few. Contact past
freelance clients with whom you have worked.
Request them a couple of kind words about their past experiences with you.
Make it some portion of your freelance cycle to
catch up and demand a proposal after work with your freelance client is
finished.
Furthermore, in the event that you don't have any
previous clients to ask, you should do some work for free in return for a
suggestion.
Think of it as a promoting cost, and it will pay off eventually.
3. Are you putting pressure?
On the off chance that you are like other
freelancers, when you make the presentation with a potential client and sends a
proposal, you do one of two things.
You either send multiple emails pushing the client to
answer or you kick back and stand by until the customer gets in touch with you.
Neither of them is a good strategy.
People don’t like to be put under the pressure they
get confused; they are more likely to reject you.
so, don't constrain the deal on your possible
clients by being pushy and over and again calling or messaging them.
In addition, forcing your customers into working
with you when they aren't sure you are the most ideal alternative will make
issues not far off.
They will be bound to be discontent with the end
result. You additionally don't have any desire to let your potential client
escape everyone's notice by neglecting to catch up with them by any means.
You have to keep their attention so they remember about you.
Follow up a few days in the wake of sending the proposition.
Try not to push for the deal yet.
All things considered, advise the client you need
to be certain they got your proposition and ask them about that they have any
inquiries or concerns you can assist them with.
In the event that you don't get with them from that
point onward, follow up in another 2 to 3 days and ask when they might want to
begin the project. Give them a thing to do to get the show on the road.
What's more, on the off chance that you don't get
with them from that point onward, you might need to proceed onward.
As referenced above, uncertain customers are not the ideal customers you need to work with.
4. You don't have a freelance niche
You are the jack of all types of trades but you are
master of none? That’s what you are if you are accepting all kinds of jobs
available online.
This type of strategy can work for beginners that
too for a short period of time. But you won't be even noticed by your clients
in the long term.
Now I will tell you the reason why.
If you are expecting a high-quality client then
make sure you know that the one who is willing to pay more is also looking for
high-quality work.
High-quality clients won't hire you for their
high-quality requirements. They will go looking for superman in that specific
niche.
They are not willing to hire a good freelancer.
They are willing to hire a great freelancer. You tell me now, how will you
become a great freelancer.
If you focus on everything. You have to be a master
in a particular area or a niche.
All the services you are offering to your clients
right now. Ask yourself, which freelancing skill interests you the most? At
which skill are you better at? If you know which skill interests you the most (then
great). If don’t then go find one.
Now what?
After finding your passionate skill. Start focusing
on that skill. Start finding clients in that particular niche. Don’t go for any
other jobs only work in that particular niche.
Even if you are not a good or highly skilled
freelancer in that particular niche. Don’t worry, you can learn more about that
skill in deep at Udemy or skill share. On these websites, there are tons
of paid courses.
Let's take coding as an example you can see tons of paid courses for less than $10.
After applying for jobs in that area of your niche soon you will
start getting clients in that particular niche.
Once you become the superman of your niche. Then
soon you will start getting clients who are willing to pay you more for your
quality work.
5. Your pricing is not correct
For every beginner in freelancing pricing their
freelance services are not easy as it looks. Especially when no one is guiding
you and you doing everything on your own.
But let me tell you one thing, pricing your
freelancing services in a correct manner plays a big role. Maybe it can
be the reason you are not getting any freelance clients.
What are you? too cheap or too expensive?
If you sell your freelance services for the
cheapest then you are not monetizing yourself properly. A potential client may
not want to work with you. The reason is simple you are charging too low.
They expect quality work instead of cheap work.
They directly compare your price to the quality of your work.
And if you charge too much. But if you don’t have that many skills or experience to back up that much work. Unfortunately, you come off as greedy.
Here’s the trick, you only charge your clients according
to your industry standards and trends. And the value you will offer to your
client.
But don’t know what to do?
what you can do is do some online research and have
a look at what other freelancers in your niche are doing and how much they are
pricing.
Note: - the experience between you and other
freelancing should be the same (at least nearby)
You should always remember to consider your level of expertise, education, and experience whenever you are valuing your client and your service(obviously).
The size of the market industry of your
freelance niche and geographical location also affects the pricing of your
freelance services. So, always keep this in mind.
Your work is seen in the pricing of your work and
it also reflects the quality of your work and confidence. The more you change
your clients the more quality work will be expected from you.
6. You are waiting for the magic
Now You have successfully joined a freelancing
platform. You have completed your profile. Upload a cool profile picture of
yours.
Started bidding on few projects on freelancing
platforms. Emailed few clients about your work.
And now you are waiting for your client's message
or email. You are already assuming that your clients will contact you and hire
you to work with them.
But I got something very disappointing to tell you.
Clients will never come to you and hire you. Unless you are Neil Patel. You
have to go and find them.
Having an attractive profile won't bring clients to you. You have to put your time and effort to apply for the right jobs that will get you, clients.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO FIX THIS:-
Simple. Just by taking action. Yes, it has only one
simple rule. If you are willing to find work, then you have to go finding for
work.
Simply creating a good profile on a website won't
be enough for getting freelance clients. You have to find them. If you want
work then you have to make time for applying for jobs.
Only apply for jobs that you're highly skilled at. Every day you have to apply for jobs that you are qualified for. And you have to do this on daily basis.
